Baccarat Rules

The object of the game baccarat is very easy. However the rules of baccarat are very strict. The values of the cards at baccarat are pretty much the same as blackjack, except the face cards are considered to have values of zeroes.

The rules are strict because unlike poker where players can choose to fold, call or check; baccarat has very few options. However their hands will not bust. If the value of your card becomes higher than 9 or reaches double digits, simply extract the digit at the left side.

The game is usually played at a baccarat table where three dealers are present and up to 14 players can play.

In baccarat rules there should be two principal bets, the Player and the Bank. The players are then given an option to bet on the dealer or any player. It is customary though that the dealer bets on the bank. After each game, the dealer is changed, however, players may refuse.

You will then be dealt two hands. The only option to choose from is if the hands will win or come out a tie. Tie bets pay 8 to 1 because the chances of it happening are very unlikely.

The difference when you bet on a Bank compared to a player is that you are taxed 5%. Betting on a bank is taxed 5% according to baccarat rules because statistically the bank wins 3 to 4 more hands.

The actual game play will be something like this.

The dealer gets to deal two cards face down. The dealer will then have to deal another 2 cards to the player who has the largest Player bet. The person given the extra hands will then have to look at the card and return them to the dealer. The dealer will then turn them over. One of the dealers will then announce the results and the winner.

In some instances a third card can be dealt. But three cards according to baccarat rules are the maximum numbers of cards allowed to be possessed by the player.

Here are some other baccarat rules when to draw that 3rd card.

1. When the total value of his card stands at 0-5 the player is allowed to draw a third card. If the value amounts to 7-9 the player should stand.

2. When the banker’s hand total 7-9 he or she should stand. But the banker is only allowed to draw when the card’s amount to 0-2.

3. A banker is also given a chance to draw a third card when his or her card value is three less than the player’s 8 point total.

4. If the banker’s cards amounts to four only and the total of the player’s cards amounts to 0,1,8 or 9 the banker is allowed to draw a third card.

5. If the player’s cards amounts to 4-7 the banker is allowed to draw a third card when his or her amounts to 5 only.

6. When the player’s total is 6 or 7, the banker is allowed to draw a third card when his or her total mounts to 6.

Baccarat is a really simple game to play and understand which makes it very attractive to play. However, casinos really still reserve these games for high rollers. But in online blackjack there will be no one stopping you to play baccarat if you’re not a high roller.
